About the material:
These special coffee cups and mugs are handcrafted in Iznik, Turkey, using traditional techniques and a unique formula. Iznik ceramics first began production in the mid-14th century during the Ottoman Empire, reaching their golden age in the 16th and 17th centuries. The most distinctive feature of Iznik ceramics is that they contain 85% quartz, a semiprecious mineral. Quartz is considered one of the most challenging minerals to process in ceramic literature, which is why only a few manufacturers worldwide can work with it.
These cups are entirely handcrafted, from the production of the ceramic body to the intricate patterns featuring green and orange colors. They are not subjected to any machine or mass production processes.
About Iznik Mavi Cini:
Established in 2002 with the aim of realising traditional Iznik tiles, whose production ended in the 18th century and remained silent until the 21st century, with today's technology. With continuous R&D studies and design power, Iznik Mavi CIni works to prevent there exquisite works of art from going into oblivion, seeks to introduce them to new generations and transferred to future generations. This tile, handmade by Iznik Mavi Cini, is an antique artifact of the future.
